Say you've got a body. Say you've got a soul; and say you've got a spirit. Some might say that these are very different, others might say they're one in the same. Some might say we have more or less than this. I'm a spiritual thing. That means different things in different ways at different times. But Spirit is something wide and fluid like that.
Ask any individual what or whom they think God is, and you'll get a difference answer. This is a feature, not a bug.
Cast me not away from thy presense, and take not thy Spirit from me.
